Lake Bunyonyi is located in the south of the country, near the border with Rwanda. This beautiful lake has found its place between the green terraced slopes of the hills that surround it, and on its area of 46 square kilometers, there are 29 islands. In the past, some of these islands served as refugees for lepers and some as islands for the punishment of young unmarried mothers. Over 200 bird species live around the lake, so the lake is popular with bird watchers.
