Murchison Falls

Murchison Falls is located about halfway between Lake Kyoga and Lake Albert, on the Victoria Nile River. At this point, a mighty river pushes about 300 cubic meters of water every second through a gap between rocks only seven meters wide, after which the waterfalls 43 meters down the cascade. The sound that is created is sometimes reminiscent of thunder, and the scene is beautiful. This waterfall is also known as Kabalega Falls, as Idi Amin called it, but the old name of the waterfall returned immediately after the fall of the Amin regime.
