Khuvsgul Lake
Khuvsgul Lake is by volume the largest freshwater lake in Mongolia. Located northwest of Ulaanbaatar and 200 kilometers southwest of Russian Lake Baikal, Khuvsgul Lake is often called the younger sister of Lake Baikal. Khuvsgul Lake and the area that surrounds it is untouched nature, but the attendance is increasing from year to year so, you may encounter crowds. However, the beautiful clear water, the nature that surrounds the lake and, the hospitable Tsaatan people are worth a visit. Every March, the Khuvsgul Ice Festival is held here, which attracts many visitors.
