Hortobágyi National Park

The unique ecosystem of the alkaline steppe microregion inspired the creation of the Hortobágyi National Park. In addition to the semi-natural grassland, this region is very important for the culture and tradition of the Hungarian people. Large areas under pastures are located here, where over 340 species of birds, the indigenous species of Racka sheep, Hungarian Gray cattle, Water Buffalo, and many more have found a home. The area has been on the UNESCO list since 1999.
