Chinhoyi Caves is located about 110 kilometers northwest of the capital of Zimbabwe, Harare. This system of limestone caves is equally known for its geological and cultural significance. Paleontologists come here to explore underwater caves, in which it is possible to dive to depths of 100 meters, with appropriate equipment and training. According to tradition, Chinhoyi Caves and the forest that surrounds them are a sacred place because the rituals of invoking rain are performed here. The caves also have one terrible event in their history, when a conquering tribe threw executed locals into the underground pool of Chinhoyi Caves.
