Murghab

Murghab is a town in the east of the country, one of the most popular stops on the Pamir Highway. At the time of the city's conquest, it was called the Pamir Post and was a typical military settlement that abounded throughout the Soviet Union. True, this is a town at the highest altitude in the then Soviet Union, and thus in Tajikistan. Murghab has its airport, and major roads fork here: one leads north to Kyrgyzstan, while the other leads east to China. There is also a hotel in the city, so if you are heading north on the Pamir Highway, you can take a break here for a refreshing sleep.
