Commewijne

Commewijne is a river that flows into the Suriname River opposite Paramaribo. This river was an extremely important road at a time when overseas ships were transporting bauxite, coffee, and other products from this area from the river basin area. Nowadays, bauxite is depleted, and coffee, cocoa, and sugar cane processing facilities are mostly tourist attractions delimited by canals, which are best visited by bicycle or boat. The beautiful landscapes and romantic overtones of the past are hidden around every corner and provide a great contrast to the traffic and crowds in the capital.
