San Cosme y Damián is a district in the south of Paraguay, located on the Parana River, a few kilometers southeast of the Paraguayan capital Asunción. At this place, you can see the Guaraní Jesuit Mission of San Cosme y San Damián founded in 1632. This district is also known for the dunes that are the result of the river alluvium and look like a small desert that overlooks the river bank. To visit the dunes, you should take a small boat for a one-hour ride on the river, which in this part is a bit reminiscent of the sea in its width.
