Near the Adriatic sea, placed on the border between Montenegro and Albania lies Lake Skadar, the largest sweetwater lake in Southern Europe. No wonder Lake Skadar was a summer residence of the Montenegrin royal family - spectacular wilderness, ancient monuments, island monasteries, and fortresses are all contributing to Skadar to be an amazing place to visit. The Montenegrin part of the lake and its surrounding area were declared a national park in 1983.
