Agua Azul Waterfalls
The Xanil River, in its course, forms the Agua Azul Waterfalls, in the southeastern part of the country. If you pass Highway 199, this gem of nature is just a short detour, somewhere halfway between Palenque and Ocosingo. Beautiful waterfalls form pools where you will be tempted to swim. Please, be careful of the power of the water stream, so if you are not an experienced swimmer, you better spend time walking and taking photos. The water of the Xanil River is rich in minerals, so any object, branch, or rock that falls into the water is coated with a layer of calcium, resulting in beautiful shapes.
