Nyika National Park is located in the north of the country and occupies the entire Nyika plateau covering an area of about 3200 square kilometers. The park is the oldest protected area in Malawi, the largest and most visited national park in the entire country. A part of Nyika National Park is in Zambia, but just some 80 square kilometers. Nyika is home to elephants, a large number of leopards, antelopes, and about 300 species of birds! At the same time, the landscapes are a bit unexpected for this part of the world, with green grasslands for most of the year.
