Liwonde National Park

Liwonde National Park occupies an area south of Lake Malawi, along the Shire River. This park is a paradise for lovers of birds, aquatic and coastal vegetation, but the sovereign rulers of the park are elephants, of which there are over 500. There are also numerous hippos, crocodiles, kudus, zebras, black rhinos, a total of about 12,000 pieces of a big game. You may hear that Malawi is not the best destination for safaris. Liwonde National Park is an excellent example of the opposite.
