The Jeita Grotto is a system of two interconnected caves located 18 kilometers north of Beirut. The lower cave can only be visited by boat because an underground river flows through it. The upper galleries are home to the largest known stalactite in the world. At a depth of just over one kilometer, an underground river forms Hell's Rapids. The Jeita Grotto area can be reached by cable cars, and then you can get in boats or go on foot, depending on where you enter. Visitors emphasize the magnificent halls in the upper galleries, the largest of which has a height of over 120 meters!
