Wat Xiengthong in translation means the Temple of the Golden City. Its location is at the northern end of the peninsula on the Mekong River in the city of Luang Prabang. This temple was built by King Setthathirath in 1560 and served as a place for the coronation of kings, worship, and gathering of people during important celebrations. The appearance of the temple is impressive, and visitors especially emphasize the beauty of the mosaic of the tree of life on its western side.
