Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserves is named after the largest of the seven lakes located in the protected area. Lake Sary-Chelek is the third-largest in the country but insufficiently visited due to its somewhat remote location. The reserve was established in 1959, and in 1978 it reached the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve list. Visitors claim that the effort pays off and that this reserve gives the impression that you are in the lap of Mother Nature.
