The Vittorio Emanuele II Monument is also known as Altar of the Fatherland. Vittorio Emanuele II was the first king of a unified Italy. A part of the monument is a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame, the memory of all the unidentified deaths of WWI.
