Tikal is a ruin of an ancient city of the Mayan civilization located in northeastern Guatemala. Around the city is the Tikal National Park, which has been on the UNESCO list since 1979. Tall, pyramidal buildings with steep sides up to 44 meters high overlook the treetops. The buildings have been partially restored and the plateaus have been cleared of trees. When it is quiet, and when there are not many visitors, you will see monkeys, agoutis, foxes, and other permanent residents of the national park in the forest. There is evidence that the inhabitants of this city simply left before the end of the 10th century. To this day, questions remain: where and why?
