Black Star Square

Black Star Square is the main town square in Accra, the capital of Ghana. It is dedicated to the independence of Ghana. A parade is held here on the occasion of Independence Day, and it is named after the black star that is the symbol on the Ghana flag. Kwame Nkrumah commissioned the construction of this square on the occasion of the visit of Queen Elizabeth II. The square is bordered on one side by Accra Sports Stadium and the other by Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.
