Beqa Island

Beqa Island is located about 10 kilometers south of Viti Levu. It is about 7 kilometers in diameter, the maximum height is 462 meters above sea level and quite steep slopes lead to the coast. In the villages of Dakuibeqa, Rukua, and Naceva visitors can attend a traditional fire-walk performed by locals. The Shark Reef Marine Reserve was established in 2004 on this island because eight species of sharks can be found on the coral reef around the island.
