Bete Giyorgis
Ethiopia is one of the first Christian countries in the world. Only Armenia is an older Christian country than Ethiopia. No wonder some of the most amazing religious buildings can be found here. One of them is the Church of St. George or Bete Giyorgis. This is one of 11 rock-hewn churches in Lalibela. The church has the shape of a cross when viewed from above. It is the most beautiful and the last one built of 11 churches. The church is under UNESCO protection.
