St. Peter's Basilica
St. Peter's Basilica is located opposite St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. It is one of the largest Christian places of worship in the world. Construction started in 1506 and finished in 1626. St. Peter's Basilica was designed by Donato Bramante, Michelangelo, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Carlo Maderno. The dome of the basilica is one of the largest in the world. Visitors point out the overwhelming beauty and size of this famous building. St. Peter's Basilica has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1984.
