Vatican City, or the Holy See, is the smallest sovereign state in the world, both in area and population. This country is located in Rome, and its only neighbor is Italy. With the agreement signed in 1929, the territory of the Vatican of 44 hectares is independent of Italy. This country is the seat and often synonymous with the Catholic Church because of the residence of the Pope and the highest institutions of the church located here. Every inch of this country is interwoven with the history that has influenced a large part of the world, and tourists can experience this rich history through historical monuments.
