One of the gems of Old Town Montevideo and its favorite landmark is the Solís Theater. In the first half of the 19th century, there was a need for space for cultural events in Montevideo, so a decision was made to build a theater. Construction was completed in 1856, and a beautiful neoclassical-style building shone near Plaza Independencia. The Solís Theater hosts concerts, operas, and theater performances, and Montevideo residents have a strong habit of attending events of this type.
