Punta del Este is a town located in the south of Uruguay, on the Atlantic coast. This town is the main tourist destination of Uruguay, but also this part of South America's coast. Punta del Este has been given nicknames like the Pearl of the Atlantic, the Monaco of the South, and the St. Tropez of South America, and all for good reason. It was founded at the beginning of the 20th century, and has about 10,000 permanent residents, while that number multiplies by 10 or more over the summer. There is a lot of accommodation in the town, the beaches are beautiful and the whole area has a slow, romantic rhythm of life. But not everything is lulled in Punta del Este. There is a Formula E competition on the track around the port, as well as many music and cultural festivals.
