Abū 'Abd Allāh Ja'far ibn Muḥammad al-Rūdhakī or just Rudaki was the greatest Persian poet who lived from 859 to 941 AD. Tajiks, as descendants of Persians, are very proud of Rudaki's art. In that light, Rudaki Park in the central part of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, is dedicated to him. The park has a large statue of the poet, beautiful fountains, beautifully landscaped greenery, and flowers. This park is one of the favorite places for an afternoon walk for the locals and a wonderful place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy capital.
