Ales Stenar, or in English translation "Ale's Stones" is an archeological site located in the very south of the continental part of Sweden, southeast of the town of Ystad. This megalithic monument, about 3000 years old, is often compared to the English Stonehenge, although this site is far less commercialized. The megalithic stones are placed in an arrangement that outlines the contours of the ship, which led scientists to assume that a ceremonial burial was performed here under the belief about sailing to the afterlife, although the purpose of this place has not yet been definitively determined.
