Pepperpot Nature Park is located just a few kilometers east of the country's capital, Paramaribo. It is separated from the city by the river Suriname. Pepperpot was the oldest coffee plantation founded somewhere in the late 17th or early 18th century, which was declared a national park in 2009, 11 years after stopping coffee production. The area of 700 hectares is inhabited by many plant and animal species. Visitors are advised to come in the early morning hours when most of the creatures that live here can be seen.
