Secret Garden

Huwon (also known as Biwon, the Secret Garden) is 32 acres of space behind Changdeokgung Palace which deserves its section. In this garden, which was originally used as a private garden for the royal family and court ladies, and whose name means Rear Garden, is planted over 100 species of trees, some of which are over 300 years old. Above the Jade Creek dominates the Buyongjeong pavilion which was renovated in 2012, and there are five smaller pavilions in the garden area. Lotus Pond is also one of the attractions, and visitors emphasize that the best time to visit is autumn when different shades of leaves additionally intersperse the beautiful canopy of about 26,000 trees that grow here.
