Namiseom Island is located about 60 kilometers northeast of Seoul, on the Han River. The island was named after the young General Nami, who tragically lost his life in the 15th century. There is a pile of stones on the island that is believed to mark his grave. Namiseom Island is a park on its entire surface, with countless rows of pines and ginkgo. The beautifully landscaped trails entice you to go on long, slow walks, and you can see deer and ostriches for which the island is home. Art and photographic exhibitions, music concerts, and cultural events are organized throughout the year. The island can be reached by ferry or boat.
