Tokeh Beach

Tokeh Beach is a series of sandy beaches located about 40 kilometers southeast of Freetown. The inhabitants of the city of Tokeh live from fishing and tourism. Tourism has been developing since the late 1960s when prominent lawyer Shakib Basma bought land here and began building the Africana Tokeh Village resort. The resort had about 400 rooms during the 80s. The hotel was closed in the early 1990s due to the civil war, and renovation began in 2003 and is still ongoing. Because of this resort, Tokeh Beach has come to the map of the world's most famous destinations, and it is rushing towards returning to be among the best.
