Lake Ihema

Lake Ihema is located in the east of the country, on the border with Tanzania, and a small part of the lake belongs to the neighboring country. The lake occupies the southern portion of Akagera National Park. Except for fish stocks, which are extremely low due to overfishing, Lake Ihema has a rich biodiversity. In addition to hippos and crocodiles, about 550 species of birds have found a home in this area, so this lake and the national park is a paradise for ornithologists.
