Areguá

Areguá is a place leaning on the eastern border of the broader area of the capital Asunción, between Lake Ypacaraí in the east and the hill in the west. Areguá is often understood as a peaceful suburb of the capital and the town was indeed founded as early as 1538 by Domingo Martínez de Irala, so it has a long and rich history. Today, this city is a favorite for artists and writers because it offers peace and relative proximity to the center of the capital. Many tours show tourists small pottery workshops, art studios, and workshops for making handicrafts and jewelry.
