Volcan Baru National Park

Volcan Baru National Park is located not far from the border with Costa Rica, in the west of the country. The active volcano Baru is the highest point in the country, and from its top, which lies at an altitude of 3474 meters, in good weather, you can see the Caribbean and Pacific coasts. The national park of over 14,000 hectares is home to the most beautiful trekking trails in the country, and the most famous is the Sendero Los Quetzales, named after the Mayan bird of paradise quetzal, which you can meet here along with 250 other bird species. There are also various types of mammals and other animals.
