Koror Island is the economic center of Palau, and over 60% of the population lives there. Until recently, Koror city was the capital of Palau, but in 2006 the administrative seat of the country moved to Ngerulmud. Regardless of that, most of the economic, cultural, and tourist contents are on this island. Almost all boat excursions on the islands start from here, diving equipment is the easiest to get here, and the largest selection of accommodation is on the island of Connor. Don't be fooled, it's not crowded here. Only 11,200 inhabitants live here, and even when there are the most tourists, it is not overcrowded on this beautiful island.
