The German Channel is an artificially created canal in the southern part of the lagoon that surrounds the main islands of the archipelago. It was made by the Germans during their rule over Palau in the period between 1899 and 1914. Nowadays, the German Channel is one of the most potent places for diving because the marine life has completely taken over this channel, so it is possible to see coral reefs, many species of fish and sharks, and even manta rays.
