Mombacho
One of the most famous landmarks around Lake Nicaragua, especially in the city of Granada is the Mombacho volcano. The volcano and its surroundings are in a protected area of the national park. Mombacho is one of the most popular picnic spots for the residents of Granada, and their guests from all over the world. At its foot, you can find coffee plantations, and as the altitude rises, the plantations are replaced by jungle and dwarf forest. Many plants and animals have found a home here. Visitors can enjoy many species of orchids, and the shy wild cat jaguarundi, monkeys, and many others.
