Delta Projects Netherlands, also called Delta Works is an engineering landmark of the Netherlands. Located in the south-west of the country around the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta, built to protect the area from flooding. Designed by the Dutch engineer Johan van Veen and completed by 1986, Delta Projects helped maintain the safety of the large area, formerly being flooded for centuries. By 2012 the total costs of the entire project were set at $13 billion. Lately, the project is under revision, having consideration of environmental and ecological effects of it.
