Hustain Nuruu Biosphere Reserve

Hustain Nuruu Biosphere Reserve or Khustain Nuruu Biosphere Reserve is a National Park located about 70 kilometers west of the capital Ulaanbaatar. The 506-square-meter park was founded in 1993 to protect Mongolian wild takhi horses. Hustain Nuruu Biosphere Reserve is home to 460 species of plants, 85 species of lichens, 90 species of moss, 33 species of mushrooms, 44 species of mammals, and many other species of animals and insects. About 20 percent of Mongolia's area is under various protected areas, and there is a tendency for this percentage to increase.
