The Triumphal Arch in Chisinau is a monument commemorating the victory in the Russo-Turkish War in 1828-1829. The Triumphal Arch was completed in 1841 and is considered a landmark that marks the city center. The Moldovan flag always flies on the monument, which you can see as you pass through the Arch towards The Metropolitan Cathedral Nativity of the Lord. Until 2011, there was a bell of 6400 kilograms on the second level of the monument. The bell was cast from the seized Turkish cannons, and it was intended for the Cathedral Nativity of the Lord, but it turned out to be too heavy.
