Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve

The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve is an area of 56,000 hectares where efforts have been made since 1980 to preserve the Monarch butterfly habitat. Although millions of butterflies migrating from America and parts of eastern Canada use only part of this protected area, the area of the reserve mustn't grow smaller. Otherwise, the sight of trees whose branches are orange and bent by the number of butterflies can disappear forever, and that would be a terrible loss for this fantastic planet!
