Ouadane is an ancient Moorish city on a caravan route that was used to transport salt and gold. The ruins of Ouadane are on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Along with Chinguetti, Ouadane was a city of science, leaving 3,000 manuscripts in private libraries that are valuable study material. Due to the changes in caravan routes, which led to the loss of importance of this city, the population gradually left it, so only a few dozen families live in the new settlement, which stands outside the walls of the old Ouadane. That is why the city, at first glance, looks like a ghost town.
