The beautiful Palais Grand-Ducal in Luxembourg City captivates with its appearance. This beautiful building has changed its purpose several times in the past. First, it was a town hall in the 16th century but, a gunpowder explosion destroyed it in 1554. After that, this building housed parliament. The renovation lasted two decades and the building got its present purpose in 1890, with a pause during World War II when the Nazis used it as a concert hall and tavern. Nowadays, the offices of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess are here, and state receptions are taking place in the palace.
