Although known in the world as Lenin Peak, the second-highest peak in Kyrgyzstan (and Tajikistan, since it is on the border of two countries) was renamed Ibn Sina (Avicenna) Peak. This mountain peak is among the most visited peaks above 7000 meters due to its easy accessibility. Hundreds of hikers climb the summit each year. However, in 1990, an avalanche triggered by an earthquake killed 43 mountaineers. We hope that this will never happen again, and we wish all future mountaineers good luck on the climb and a safe return!
