The Scientific Center
The city of Salmiya is home to the Scientific Center. During the 1960s and 1970s, Kuwait was the Persian Gulf science center. The Kuwaiti authorities recognized the importance of science early on and invested heavily in its development. Today, this center is popular among visitors because it contains the second largest aquarium in the Middle East, right after Dubai. This aquarium contains over 100 species of animals. It is also IMAX, and a sailing port, an open-air museum of historical dhows.
