Kiritimati
Kiritimati (Christmas Island) is located in the central part of the Pacific and is part of the Line archipelago. It covers an area of 388 square kilometers, which makes it the largest coral atoll in the world. Nuclear tests were conducted on this island in the 1950s and 1960s by the United Kingdom and the United States. Kiritimati is in the most advanced time zone +14h. The island is a fishing paradise because about 500 species of fish can be found in its waters. Sport fishermen who like fly-fishing are especially attracted because of giant trevally, whose specimens can reach 40 kilograms!
