Shortly after gaining independence, in the early 1970s, the potential of the Malolotje region was recognized as important for nature conservation. The few inhabitants who were mainly engaged in sheep farming were displaced to better land for agriculture. Nowadays, Malolotja National Park is one of the best national parks in this part of the African continent. A huge fund of flora and fauna typical of this part of the world can be found here, with a beautiful landscape of pastures by the waterfalls you can visit by car, on foot, and even a canopy tour.
