On the southwest coast of the island of Cyprus, is the town of Paphos. Two kilometers north of this place are the excavations of a large ancient necropolis called Tombs of the Kings, although there is no information that any king was buried there. The archeological site is under the protection of UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Most of the tombs are from the 4th century BC. There are also a large number of Doric-style pillars, as well as many items from funeral equipment, pottery, and frescoes on the walls.
